Self defense skills even your 8 year old should know

Self defense is for everyone and it’s never too early to help your kids learn some lifesaving skills. Miyo Strong teaches with the Elizabeth Smart Foundation and says conversations about keeping kids safe should start as soon as your children can talk. She brought eight year old Myanna with her on set today to show practical self defense moves that even a third grader can learn and master.

  • Skills like: keeping your hands near your face for protection, a strong stance that makes it easier to balance, how to use your voice, and how to always keep distance between you and someone that makes you feel uncomfortable.

  • If you would like to be involved in the next Smart Foundation Kids Camp for 5-10 year old children, it’s coming up on June 17th-21st from 9 am to 12 pm at Trolley Square in Salt Lake City. Visit www.elizabethsmartfoundation.org/smart-defense-for-kids for more information.
